Why Hydro Excavation Has Increased In Popularity

Conventional excavation methods will become obsolete in the future, considering the rise in popularity and the need for hydro excavation contractors. And let’s not be surprised!

In contrast to common traditional excavation strategies, hydro excavation provides a sheltered option. The technology behind it makes it much safer, more convenient and overall more efficient. The job can be performed with a single machine – a hydrovac truck – equipped with high-pressure water wands that are used by operators to soften the ground and cut through it. They can also use water heaters if the project must be performed in frozen ground.

The excavated debris is sucked into the tank of the truck, so the site will remain clean; depending on the project, it can be released back to cover the area, or transported safely somewhere else.

The popularity of hydro excavation is also due to its multiple applications. Operators use hydrovac trucks for full excavation projects, uncovering underground utilities, slot trenching, storm drain cleaning etc.

The technology is much safer than conventional excavation methods; it is less intrusive (including for the environment!), much cleaner, not to mention that high pressured water is far less dangerous to underground utilities than mechanical digging tools.
